Margarita Poptail

If you’re planning a party or going to one this summer and you want to have something that will start a conversation, save this recipe because it is easy, refreshing and it doubles as an instant conversation starter. We are skipping the blender and making my favorite Margarita Poptail! 

This cocktail on a stick is a make-ahead option, and it is easily customizable with whatever kind of juice you prefer It’s just boozy enough to keep the conversations going.

Time (Hands on): 10 minutes

Total time with freezing is 12 hours

Servings: 8

Ingredients:

-1/2 cup (or two jiggers) tequila blanco

-4 ounces Cointreau

-3-4 tablespoons of simple syrup

-1 cup orange juice (if squeezing yourself, you’ll need 5-6 oranges, I used Cara Cara)

-1/2 cup fresh squeezed lime juice (4-5 PLUS  3 more for portal garnish)

-splash of grenadine

-3-4 Small mandarin oranges for garnish

-3 ounce Dixie cups 

-Popsicle sticks

-Margarita salt and or Tajin for garnish

Directions:

  1. Squeeze your lime juice and orange juice and set aside. 

  2. Cut your extra lines and mandarins into thin slices and set aside. 

  3. Grab your shaker and pour in your juices, tequila, Cointreau, and simple syrup, and shake it well to mix the margarita. 

  4. Pour the drink mix into 8 Dixie cups, leaving a little bit of room at the top.

  5. Pour a small dash of grenadine into each cup.

  6. Poke a popsicle stick through each lime or mandarin slice and gently lay it over the top of the liquid. 

  7. Freeze for 10-12 hours, top with margarita salt and or Tajin. 

  8. Serve frozen.
